Blue

I think I had an unfair advantage this week with the photo theme. Dave didn't know that I was painting my son's room blue this weekend when he chose the topic. Oh well. I like the way they turned out.

I took some others too this weekend.

Again, I'm the only one that's posted. I'll update the other links as they come up. Starting to loose faith in you guys.

**Update: Mike's, GrizDave. Still no others.
Next week's topic: Entrance (Mike's pick)

Happy First Day of Autumn

First day of Autumn. One of my most favorite times of year. Starting to feel that way too lately.

Symmetry

I really had a tough time this week finding symmetry. I thought of leaves and butterflies and people's eyes, but none of those idea's panned out. I was taking pictures of a leaf and thought of my daughter's jacks. I'm very pleased with the way it turned out. No Photoshopping was done on this other than a bit of color balancing to get it adjusted to the way it really was.

I took a few others and I posted my leaf one too.

So far it looks like Mike is the only other to post. View with caution. :)
Other posts to follow.
**Update: GrizDave, Chad
Next week's topic: "Blue". Good choice Dave.

A Picture Says 1000 Words...

...and so do it's comments.

I was checking up on some Flickr groups today and came across one that caught my eye. It's a great picture. To be able to capture the light the way he did is incredible. But while reading some of the comments I was taken in by one.

" In my opinion a photo 'lives' not with its 'perfectionism' but with the impression!
A photo tells something about the moment, the view and the impression the photographer had this moment. The photographer tris to tell this with the photo and only if one is not able to understand he'll start the discussion about how to make it better."

It gives me some hope that I don't need to be perfect with my photos, only try to convey my experience the best way possible. Imperfections in the lighting or range doesn't matter as much as conveying the experience to my audience. I think that's a great thing to keep in mind.

Steel

I had fun with this week's theme. Thanks for choosing it Alvin. Again, I took a trip to my in-laws and enlisted in the help of my father-in-law. As always he was a good sport. He ended up making a few sparks and they turned out to be some pretty good pictures. Hope you agree.

Here was my other choice.

I'll post the links to the other entries for the week as they get posted. Who's turn next week?

**Update: Here are the rest for this week: Alvin and Chad.

Will we have a better showing?

Weird

I had a tough time coming up with a picture for this week until BJ and I sat down to have a snack at Taco Bell on Friday. We started reading the "weird" little captions on the hot sauce packets and I thought it would be cool for this week's theme. So I grabbed an assorted handful and took them home along with my receipt, my tray cover, my empty soda cup, my empty nacho bag and an extra straw. I'm sure I looked "weird" carrying all of this stuff to the car.

Here's another.

**Update:
Everyone else's links:
Mike, Dave, Alvin, GrizDave, Paul (still waiting).
New person. Welcome to the Irishman.
